For many people, starting a consulting business is something they’ve thought about doing at one or another. But just like most entrepreneurial endeavours, many don’t get started because they don’t know the way to find real success. And many times, they don’t know anyone who is a “successful” consultant to learn from.

In my experience, there are a few well known names out there that come to mind when you’re talking about becoming a decent consultant.

Michael has been a consultant since the age of 19 and since then, he’s been honing his craft and helping others along the way.

Since 2007, he and his cousin Sam have empowered 34,000 people from over 80 countries with their company Consulting Success.

To Michael and Sam, success is not about numbers or material gains. Instead, it’s about being in a place where money isn’t a concern anymore. It’s the ability to go out to enjoy a meal or a trip with family. It’s having the certainty you need – in an increasingly uncertain world – to take charge of your future. It’s the freedom to live life on your own terms.

People get involved in non fiction writing for a number of reasons. In the thought leader space, the number one reason books are created is for their ability to be a lead generator. Many times, they’ll be at the front of a sales funnel that leads to higher and higher priced products such as courses and live events.

However, sometimes the book is the end message. And for me, before I got into the content production world, I always thought that was point of a book. The point was to actually increase the awareness of your readers. The book was the end… not the means to an end.

But, as a good authorpreneur knows, you can have the best of both if you really care to make the effort. You can create something of value while at the same time using it as a tool to grow your business.

Jeff Gamble – Gaining Perspective through Business Ownership: How One Entrepreneur Survived the Ride of His Life (AoL 156)

Business ownership comes in many forms. The goal of this show has always been to expose the listener to as many ways to start earning 6 or 7 figures a year. In the last session, our guest, Chris Prefontaine, built his income generating machine through real estate investing. Then, in session 150, we had Corbett Barr on who told us about how he managed to make Fizzle from the knowledge he knew about monetizing traffic online.

In this session, I had the chance to speak with an influencer here in the Indianapolis area about his background in various businesses including multi-level marketing (MLM).

As you guys probably know, I’ve been a fan of properly ran MLM groups for years. For instance, way back in session 23 of the show, Laila and I had the opportunity to interview soon to be Amway Diamond Mark Nathan.

What he and today’s guest, Jeff Gamble, can tell you is that a large part of being successful in the network marketing arena is affiliating yourself with great people.

Pair this experience of his with traditional business and the result is someone that knows a lot about what it takes to be successful entrepreneur and leader.

Chris Prefontaine – Smart Real Estate Investing: How It’s Possible to Build a Rental Property Business without Banks or Your Money (AoL 155)

If you’ve ever read the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad, you probably know that the author, Robert Kiyosaki gained his wealth in Real Estate Investing (REI). Since the release and rise of popularity of the book, there’s been all kinds of methods revealed to the general public about how to make passive income.

There are two passive income quadrants: Investing (I) and Business (B).

When it comes to passive income, we’re usually thinking of the B quadrant.

For example, most of us are familiar with the thought leader approach. They create content, develop a tribe, and provide services or products to that tribe to help them achieve more. The larger the tribe, the more potential one has of making a good income.

Yet others might be more familiar with drop shipping through eBay or Amazon. Pretty much the same idea, but instead of developing your own tribe, you sell to the customers on those sites. Because of that, you have to share a percentage of what you earn with the company.

A hybrid of both of these is using Facebook ads to get your name out there to Facebook users so that they can convert in your sales funnel.

As for the I quadrant, it tends to stay off limits to most people who are seeking passive income.

Mainly because most people think that to work in that quadrant, we have to have money available to invest.

Truth is, that’s not necessarily the case.

In fact, today’s guest, Chris Prefontaine, has one of the coolest systems I’ve seen to help people develop wealth in the I quadrant.

Save Money, Feed People, Grow Your Business – How LVRG.IT is Helping the New Entrepreneur as a Social Venture with Cam Martinez (AoL 152)

Back in session 55, Laila and I had the opportunity to pick the brain of Summer Edwards. Outside of Veronica (who was still running her tech company), she was the first entrepreneur I had on the show who we could label as a social entrepreneur. This type of entrepreneur is someone who not only creates a business, but that business could be called a social venture – a business that has a social mission empowering it.

Since then, I’ve met all kinds of social entrepreneurs and they all have one thing in common. They’re creating something by themselves or with others that not only affects a large amount of people in a positive way, but is sustainable.

Traditionally when many nonprofits start out, they do so thinking that they’ll be funded by governmental grants or strictly through donations and fundraising. However, they tend to leave one concept on the table – partnering with companies who care about their cause.

In this session, we find out about a company which not only offers a great service through their membership, but has a passion in feeding people around the world. Obviously, they can’t do the work themselves, so that’s where a nonprofit who is already doing that comes into play.

It’s a win-win for both organizations.
