David E. Bryant – Return on Experience and Expertise: Why Staying Humble Allows for Big Time Growth (AoL 168)

Return on Experience and Expertise, or RoEE, is something we all should realize we have. Whether you’re more street smart or climbed your way up the twin towers of formal education and the corporate world, you do have experience which can serve not only you, but those around you.

However, that said, it’s up to us to realize what expertise can truly help others. Unlike our Passion, we don’t get to choose our Purpose and where we fit with others.

However, when we can pair up our Purpose with our Passion, then we have the seeds to greatness. Add it to a unique Process, and we have a winning formula for awesome Profit!

Today’s guest, David Bryant, is a prime example of someone who’s not only found this sweet spot in his career, but also has been able to take advantage of it. How? By staying humble and learning lessons wherever or from whoever he can.

When it comes to your everyday classroom teacher, a lot of them feel like their hands are tied in a similar fashion.

They’re not allowed to teach the way that they believe they should.

Because of this, the average time that someone works in the public education system as a classroom teacher is 3 years.

This is a horrible statistic.

That said, students are paying for this lack of competency just as much as teachers are.

It’s producing people who simply aren’t ready for life and the real world.

Andrew O’Brien – Forging the Vetpreneur Tribe: Helping Veterans become Successful Entrepreneurs (AoL 113)

Let’s face it. The world can eat you up and spit you out if you let it. And the number one way that this happens is by not having a personal mission.

Or simply not having something to fight for.

Like anyone else, military veterans are susceptible to having a numb life after they retire from the armed forces. However, because they have had something to fight for they know what it means to have a mission – even though it didn’t begin in their own head.

This mission gives veterans a unique sense of comradeship.

And when they retire – they lose all of the support they’ve become accustomed to.

As we’ve been learning, entrepreneurship can be a way to not only develop a personal mission, but embrace it as well.

And that being the case, veterans can make great entrepreneurs who support each other.

Taking a passion and making money from it takes the form of many types of careers.

For me, you guys know I love helping people do actually that. That’s why my focus in grad school was entrepreneurship. I love discussing and thinking about it… turning around and helping someone else out through the process.

This session’s guest is no different. Melinda Enfinger is a veteran of the Marines who found herself in the reality industry afterwards, and now finds herself helping veterans find their own property – plus other benefits that they might not know about.
